Holiday Heaven at CT Historic Homes

Yesterday despite the gloomy, damp weather, joined by my Parents, I visited a wonderful treasure: The Phelps-Hatheway House & Garden in Suffield, CT. My sister Lynn works there and is a most knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide. This weekend is a special weekend featuring the PH House and two other neighboring privately owned historic homes. The PH House, respectfully known for its extraordinary period, woodblocked, handpainted Parisian wallpapers, and the other two homes are part of a Holiday Fest. Local floral designers and the Suffield Garden Club magically decorated these beautiful homes for the season!

In the PH house this dining room tablecloth was covered with hundreds of silver painted lemon leaves…’twas breathtaking.
In the next room, a wreath over the hearth was covered in pink gerbera daisies… Picked up the pink tones on the gorgeous rugs

The Christmas Tree in the same room was dressed in sparkling pink ornies

Across the hall, in a humble sitting room was a quiet forrestral treat: a tree skirt made of moss surrounded the base and tree fungi and orchids covered the branches!

The front center hall bannister was wrapped in greens and loads of spectacular deep yellow roses!

The neighboring homes across the street showed a seamless blend of new and vintage floral looks!

A very special event, we had a wonderful visit. Go see the PH house! I can’t wait to see what the next gardening/floral season will offer!
