Celebrating College Son’s Graduation

Yesterday we celebrated our son’s college graduation with a wonderful outdoor gathering of family and friends. We were blessed with a sunny, warm
Summer day, free from the forecasted thunderstorms!
Despite my recent crazy busy schedule,
I was able to put together the top of his commemorative T-shirt quilt. His university colors are cranberry and black. The plan is to make the quilt sandwich and machine quilt it this summer.

Daughter T n I made yummy and cute cupcakes for dessert, with custom college themed M & M’s.

My sister, who shall be from here forward known as Goddess of Wildflower Arrangements, made 5
gorgeous table centerpieces for the party. There were at least 8 different types of flowers from her home garden and the co op she belongs. Absolutely a feast for the eyes! Thanks L!
What a great day we had… Lucky us!

Summer Solstice 2013 Journals

It’s Friday, June 21, 2013, the first day of summer. And by tradition I am up in Little Rhody with a few of my art gal pals. We will be doing all sorts of amazing artful things with The ArtGirlz!
To commemorate this holiday and gathering I have hand made special journals. I’m calling them “Sunshine Journals”.

I trimmed full sheets of luscious watercolor paper down to desired size, pleated the paper to make it accordion in format. Then using wine corks and sponges painted circular sun shapes. To make it glisten I sprayed Glimmer Mist. Next I sewed orange ribbon to the inside back cover, added a sweet word sticker over the stitched spot and a sun shaped paper clip to the last page. On the journal cover I stamped June 2013. The ribbon ties all around the journal.
In either a tin or clear Baggie the journals were paired up with a gold metallic Sharpie, some Lemon Drop and Butterscotch candies. A little bag of sunshine!

Enjoy the season!
