T Shirt Memory Quilt completed!

Today #1 son and I drove upstate to deliver the T shirt quilt I finished for my parents, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Today is actually their 61st anniversary! Congratulations Mom and Dad!! So yes, I did get it done with one day to spare! Here’s a pic of the happy couple with their new keepsake!

Next quilting project: T shirt quilt for high school graduating daughter… Question is… should I start it now before I begin her graduation dress, an on trend white (must be white) cotton eyelet, retro 40’s Mad Men-esque style and mine (and the 16 makeup bags for her closest friends) or after?!
Dear sewing and quilting gods, be with me!!

Girl Scouting days

I have been a Girl Scout myself since 1966 (stop calculating!) and a GS Leader since 1999, yes 13 years!
This past weekend our GS Ambassador Troop celebrated our final Troop Meeting with a special send off dinner at one of our fave local restaurants, Centro.
In preparation for this momentous occasion, there was much crafting to be had from moi!

I made a Memory Book for each of my 5 girls. I used a Visual Journalling Book, watercolor paper weight. Pages were painted, stamped, layered and embellished collage style with doodads and tons of photos taken of each girl and the Troop throughout the years. I had been working on the books for months!

I also made glittered silk Gerber Daisy
(GS Founder Juiliette Lowe’s nickname was Daisy!) corsages for the girls. This is also the 100th Anniversary of GS! So for each of the Moms who had helped me out the entire time, I also made a pink Daisy cordage and gave a pretty GS Commemorative Mug filled with green Jelly Belly Beans as a thank you from the girls and myself.

The table at Centro looked so festive complete with balloons and bright pink party bags to bring all their keepsakes and goodies home

After our lovely dinner, our co leader Kathy invited us back to her home to watch videos taken of the girls throughout the years, the girls loved every minute of this wall down Memory Lane! As part of the dessert offerings, I made my yummy double chocolate Kahlua cake this time with crushed and whole GS Thin Mint Cookies!

What a great celebration! I will always be proud of my girls, how they have grown, from little kindergarten Daisy GS to high school senior Ambassador GS, and become such fine young responsible women! Good luck to them in all their endeavors, thanks to the devoted Moms. It’s been an amazing journey and a true pleasure!
